Washing Tennis Shoes
You should not fear washing your tennis shoes. You can easily clean them by following these steps. This article will list easy steps on how to wash tennis shoes properly using hand washing.
The hand washing technique
Hand washing a tennis shoes is not that different from washing it using a washing machine. It would only differ on the cleaning solutions used but exhibit the same approach. The cleaning steps on washing shoe laces and insoles are the same with the washing machine method.
Shoe laces can be washed together with your laundry. The insoles should be soaked with baking soda and water solution to remove the odor and stains. Brushing the solution into the insoles will help in cleaning.
Two variations of cleaning depending on type of fabric
Washing Fabric Shoes
If you have fabric shoes, this step by step guide will help you clean your shoes easily. Prepare the cleaning solution by mixing two cups of warm water and one teaspoon of dishwashing liquid. This will be used as the bath of our shoes. When soaked, scrub the dirt of your tennis shoes.
You can use any brush but make sure that it will not damage the fabric of your shoes. Rinse off the excess foam and pat dry with a tissue paper. Place them under the sun for air drying.
Washing Leather Shoes
Same approach will be used in washing fabric shoes. However, the cleaning solution will be made by mixing equal parts of distilled white vinegar and cold water. Unlike the method above, you will not soak the shoes in to the cleaning solution. You will not also use a brush when cleaning.
Instead, take a piece of cloth to soak in to the cleaning solution. Lightly wipe off the dirt on the surface of your leather shoes. Place it in a cool place to dry. Do not place it under the sun.
